did a little research on this issue...
Installation error: "Error 1325. homefolders is not a valid short file name"
Issue:
While trying to install TATEMS the process stops, popping up the installation error: "Error 1325. homefolders is not a valid short file name"
Resolution:
This may resolve this error:
Open the registry by running regedit:
Then go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders
Here you should change the Personal registry key from whatever it is now to
%USERPROFILE%
Then try the install again.
Note: Always use caution when editing the registry
More info in in case the solution above does not work
This error message looks like it has to do with the Windows installer and also having your Documents folder redirect to
a server and the domain.
This link has it occurring on many different types of software installations and shows various possible solutions.
But from what I can glean the easiest way around it might be to do this:
1. Shut down the computer
2. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the network
3. Start the computer
4. Log in as an Local Admin on the Local Machine do not log in to the Domain
5. Install TATEMS
6. Shut down computer
7. Log in again as domain user
If you prefer, you can also try the Microsoft Install-Uninstall Fix-it utility
It runs right from your browser but you will probably need to be logged in as an Administrator to run it.
